Description
Compositions by Ville Matvejeff and Joel Järventausta featured on the Naava album
Jyväskylä Sinfonia’s album brings together significant works by two prominent Finnish composers: Ville Matvejeff and Joel Järventausta. Violinist Petri Aarnio is featured as the soloist on the album.
New and commemorated orchestral music
The album features a diverse selection of orchestral works by both Matvejeff and Järventausta. Matvejeff’s Violin Concerto was premiered at the Helsinki Music Centre in 2011 and is now featured on the album, performed by Petri Aarnio.
The album also includes Matvejeff’s composition Seaside Rendezvous, which was commissioned by Jukka-Pekka Saraste in honor of Mozart’s 250th anniversary.
Joel Järventausta’s compositions on the album include his internationally acclaimed work Ripped Tapestry, which won the French Île de Créations composition competition in 2019, which led to numerous performances, including broadcasts on French radio.
The title composition of the album is Järventausta’s piece Naava, which resonates with the colors and darkness of the Finnish forest.
