Saxophonist Masa Orpana releases new music.
The album compiled in honor of Masa’s 50th anniversary reflects his musical versatility.
All the compositions on the album are Orpana’s handwriting, and also lyrcs to Keväällä song, which Kielo Kärkkäinen performs. Orpana’s music includes his long and extensive experience in the field of rhythm music: his compositions include jazz, Finnish tones as well as rootsy instrumental music tinged with blues and gospel.
On the album, Orpana plays all the instruments he has mastered: soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophone, bass clarinet, clarinet, flute, and guitar. On one track he plays the piano. The singers Kielo Kärkkäinen and Anne Berg, drummers Juppo Paavola and Mikko Järvinen, percussionists Janne Tuomi and Ismaila Sané, bassists Ville Rauhala and Ville Vallila, pianists Saku Järvinen and Sami Sippola, guitarist Jukka-Pekka Berg, trumpeter Jykä Ahola and saxophonists appear on the album with Masa. Aino Heikkonen and Tuomas Heinonen.
Jykä Ahola, Juuso Nordlund, Jukka-Pekka Berg and Jonni Seppälä have worked as recorders and mixers.
