Syrjäläinen, VIlle

Master of Music Ville Syrjäläinen (b. 1983) has established his position as a versatile figure in the Finnish music scene. He studied at the Sibelius Academy and the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva. His most significant teachers have included Tomi Wikström, Sami Koskela, Philippe Spiesser, and Christophe Delannoy. He has also attended masterclasses, including those under the tutelage of Wieland Welzel.

As an orchestral musician, he has performed with various ensembles, including the Finnish National Opera, the Savonlinna Opera Festival Orchestra, and all major orchestras in the capital region. Since 2015, he has been the principal percussionist of the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra. As a highly regarded educator, he has worked at the Helsinki Conservatory and the Sibelius Academy.

Syrjäläinen’s musical expertise extends beyond classical and art music; he regularly performs in the realms of rock, pop, and jazz. Additionally, he is an entrepreneur in the creative industry through his own company, Centre de Ville Oy.
