NEW DOMESTIC TOP JAZZ WITH TOP SOUND!
The Petri Nieminen Ensemble has recorded Petri Nieminen's jazz compositions together with the world-famous soprano Anu Komsi and top Finnish trumpeter Jorma Kalevi Louhivuori.
Two versions of The Brightest Matter album will be released in the same package, a traditional CD and at the same time, as the first Finnish jazz album, also a Pure Audio Blu-ray version, which enables traditional stereo listening in addition to 5.1 and 7.1. multichannel listening.
The works on the album can be characterized as easy-to-listen progressive, slightly rocking jazz, but the effects of art music are also evident in places. Anu Koms' astonishingly wonderful, very skillful use of her singing voice comes into its own on the album, as well as the musicians' fine playing and swing.

Reviews

In Well You Shouldn’t, something of a tribute to Thelonious Monk, Komsi scats (and this time, really swings) as the band plays a lively tune in E modal with interesting excursions into neighboring harmonies.

The Brightest Matter
”Anu Komsi säilyttää osuudessaan oopperamaisen laulutyylinsä yrittämättä muuttaa sitä jazzin kaavioihin, kun taas orkesteri jatkaa omalla linjallaan pitäen yllä tiukkaa jazzilmettä. Näin toimien yhdistelmästä tulee hieno ja erikoinen yhdistelmä jazzia ja klassispitoista oopperaa.
Vahva big band -”boosti” työntää orkesteria eteenpäin, soitossa on terävyyttä ja tuhtia painetta, erinomaiset soolot seuraavat toisiaan ja puhaltajat tulevat esille voimakkaalla otteella. Välillä orkesteri suorastaan…
