Review Ylen New albums in the program
"The different characteristics of a classical guitar and a flamenco guitar are, for example, the distance of the strings from the fingerboard, the weight of the instrument, the playing style and the tone. But when the starting point is the distant lute and vihuela, compared to them, the current differences cannot be considered big. The record is a creative voyage of discovery. The musicianship refreshes the listener. To complement the familiarity, a new creative mixed technique appears, the combination of styles, the opening of closed doors. Both guitarists have their own bravura, the arrangements are unadorned, but expressive. Hopefully, Petri Kumela's flamenco guitar is just at the beginning of their journey."

  • These performances are brilliant, and they have been recorded with uncommon clarity and richness.

  • While this recording is highly recommended for aficionados of Spanish music, it should serve as an excellent introduction to this captivating genre.

  • I have reviewed Mr Kumela twice before, in a brilliantly executed mixed program (J/F 2012) and in a performance of the works of Paavo Korpijaakko (S/O 2013).

Levy on luovaa löytöretkeilyä.

Kumela…
