Songs from 2000 years
On soprano Anneliina Koskinen's new album De Angelis, you can hear not only medieval songs but also really ancient tunes, alongside which the old Finnish and Inger folk songs and laments on the album are almost as if they were made yesterday. The oldest of the works on the album is known to be from the year 130, so it's quite a lasting hit, even Mozart can stand to be surprised. Anneliina Koskinen, a stunningly beautiful-voiced soprano, also plays stylish exotic instruments to accompany herself, perhaps even playing a few instrumental solos.
The 4th century hymn text from Syria, which originally belongs to the Yawnu Tlitu melody, in many ways sums up the idea of the De Angelis recording: the seemingly small can contain something big. Fragile can convey strong, unknown known by all.
A young dove carries an ancient eagle,
singing his praises:
"O Son of the Glorious,
modestly you have wanted to grow up!
You lovely instrument of voices,
quiet as a child
let me honor You
like the cherubim
and proclaim your message forever."
