Description
One of Finland’s most interesting solo violinists, LindaSuolahti, is seen as a significant trendsetter in Finnish art music, having impressed with
her courage as an organiser of events and as an artistic director. She is currently based in Helsinki and enjoys a versatile career as a guest leader and chamber musician, regularly invited to play in some of the world’s leading music festivals and concert halls.
Pianist and conductor Miikka Taipale is a fast-rising Finnish musician who has, in a short time, established himself as one of the country’s most compelling and passionate performers. As a pianist, Taipale is especially known for his profound and colorful interpretations of Bach, as well as for his skills as an improviser. His career as a conductor has taken him beyond Finland as far as the Middle East, where his intuitive and dialogical musicianship has made a strong impact on the local music scene.
There have always been overlooked artists/composers in classical music because of their gender, race and/or socioeconomic status. It is essential to acknowledge that we are not seeing and hearing the whole (her)story due to this sidelining and discrimination of certain voices.
Throughout history, Finnish composers have created magnificent works, some of which have remained completely unknown to most of us. Unrecorded, Linda Suolahti’s album series breathes new life into the works of such marginalised Finnish composers by transforming their manuscripts into accessible recordings.
