Description
The guitar and accordion have long been an important part of the Finnish musical landscape, and in recent decades both instruments have also established their place in the repertoire of art music. Mundus Aequalis captures glimpses of these two instruments, beloved by Finns, in the music of our time and includes a collection of compositions for guitar and accordion dedicated to Jonne Grans and Matti Pulkki in dialogue with other Finnish repertoire.
The album explores the delicate and multidimensional sound of the guitar-accordion combination and places the instruments in varied and unprejudiced roles. In addition to Grans and Pulkki, the album features guest appearances by bassist Aida Salakka, flutist Kaisa Kortelainen and percussionist Jerry Piipponen.
