About this release

KOLIZIO (Esperanto, collision) was born in 2017 from the simple desire of six Finnish brass players to make music together. By colliding their special skills, these virtuosos of classical and jazz music strive to find a fresh and genre-free perspective on chamber music composed for brass instruments. KOLIZIO's repertoire mainly consists of original compositions by the band's founding member, tubist Petri Keskitalo, as well as inventive arrangements of classic songs representing different genres. Just before recording the album in the spring of 2023, Keskitalo passed away unexpectedly. After that, the Portuguese tuba virtuoso Sergio Carolino joined the ensemble as its newest member.

Reviews

  • Soitto on siis ilmiömäisen tarkkaa, mutta se ei estä humoristista pilkettä tai soolojen improvisatorista vapautta.
