Musician Masa Orpana plays up to nine instruments on his new album
Saxophonist Masa Orpana releases new music in the form of a CD and a digital album.
The album compiled in honor of the musician's 50th anniversary is a cross-section of his musical versatility.
All the compositions on the album are Orpana's handwriting, and one of her lyrics, performed by Kielo Kärkkäinen in Kevää, can also fit in. Orpana's music includes his long and extensive experience in the field of rhythm music: his compositions include jazz, Finnish tones as well as rootsy instrumental music tinged with blues and gospel.
On the album Orpana plays all the instruments he has mastered: soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophone, bass clarinet, clarinet, flute and guitar. On one track he plays the piano. The singers Kielo Kärkkäinen and Anne Berg, drummers Juppo Paavola and Mikko Järvinen, percussionists Janne Tuomi and Ismaila Sané, bassists Ville Rauhala and Ville Vallila, pianists Saku Järvinen and Sami Sippola, guitarist Jukka-Pekka Berg, trumpeter Jykä Ahola and saxophonists Aino Heikkonen and Tuomas Heinonen appear on the album with Masa.
Jykä Ahola, Juuso Nordlund, Jukka-Pekka Berg and Jonni Seppälä have worked as recorders and mixers.
