The River presents piano music by Selim Palmgren, performed by Henri Sigfridsson. The programme includes Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 2 and Metamorphoses. Jan Söderblom conducts Pori Sinfonietta and also joins Sigfridsson as violinist in the pieces for violin and piano, Op. 78.
If Palmgren’s name rings a bell, it’s more like to be for his 300 or so musically undemanding piano miniatures than anything else, since these supplied reams of enjoyable material for generations of youngsters and amateurs.
