Finnish national romantic choral music
With their new album, winter expenses, the Klemetti School Chamber Choir, founded in 1959 by the legendary choir director Harald Andersén, respects the strongest traditions of Finnish choral music in a versatile and wide-ranging way. One of the choir's goals has always been to make known new and less frequently performed choral music, and it has commissioned and premiered numerous Finnish choral works. On the album, the choir performs a comprehensive collection of both central and lesser-known choral works from the golden age of our national romanticism. The soloists are soprano Terttu Iso-Oja, tenor Tuomas Katajala and Joose Vähäsöyrinki, bass.

Reviews

So this is music of genuine humanity, but not always of great warmth.

This is an excellent anthology of Finnish choral music written
at the peak of the nationalistic Romantic Movement in the late
19 th – early 20 th century. Art played
an important role in the forming of the Finnish national idea,
and choral singing was one of the most influential forces in
this process.
