About this release

Guadalupe López-Íñiguez plays on a cello by Claude Pieray (Paris, 1725) equipped with gut strings and an instrumental set-up inspired by examples from the early 19th century, and a bow by François Tourte (Paris, 1800). Olga Andryushchenko plays on a piano by Érard (Paris, 1862), serial number 32602. Musicological research behind the performances in this CD was funded by Kone Foundation (2016-2018). The CD is generously funded by the CulturArts funds in Valencia (Spain).

Während Guadelupe Lopez Iniguez mit singendem und trotzdem fein und nicht pastösem Celloton gefällt, erreicht Olga Andryushchenko am Piano, übrigens einem Erard, ein angenehm perlendes Spiel.

Sin embargo, las evidentes cualidades de estas dos mujeres permiten augurar un futuro brillante para ambas y consiguen que este disco sea realmente interesante para los amantes de Mendelssohn y de la música de cámara en general.

This is a charming program sensitively platy ed by the two young artists, Spanish cellist Guadalupe López-Íñiguez and Russian pianist Olga Andryushchenk.

The sound of the cello heard here works best in faster, especially brilliant passagework, rather than lyrical sections, in which the instrument seems a bit too thin and whiny.
