Duo Hannu Annala and Mari Mäntylä's new album Musica Barocca a Due features the works of the master composers of the Baroque and Galant periods arranged for guitar. From Antonio Vivaldi's Sonata op. 1 No. 8 (RV 64) all four parts are now heard possibly for the first time performed with two guitars.
The duo Hannu Annala and Mari Mäntylä have been performing together since 2003 in different parts of Finland. Both guitarists have actively worked to develop music and pedagogy related to their instrument in Finland. Mäntylä specializes in the 10-string guitar, or decachord. His disc debut on that instrument, the CD Decacorde (ABCD 261), proved very popular.
