Founded in 2012, the lineup of Honki has grown three years ago with two saxophonists, and Orpana has made his new arrangements especially for this expanded band. The performances emphasize the role of the brass section in the band and the rhythmic and sonorous possibilities of different saxophones. In addition to the concert songs, the band parts of the other songs on the album have been recorded as live recordings.
A significant part of the album's songs are instrumentals composed by Masa Orpana. Stylistically, they are inspired by a wide spectrum of African-American roots music: New Orleans rhythm and blues, Chicago and Texas blues, west coast jazz-influenced, swinging jump blues, gospel, soul and funk.
In addition to Orpana's instrumentals, The Chase! The album includes the band's guitarist Johnny Gideon's (aka Jonni Seppälä) rocking song Looking for My Baby in the spirit of traditional rhythm and blues, as well as a few classics of the genre edited by Honk. The songs feature Seppälä's pleasantly relaxed, swinging vocals and strong and surprising guitar playing. The phonists' solos also go wild.
Alba has previously released two LPs by Masa Orpana Honk: Travelin' Home (2014) and Honk (2018), as well as Orpana's records Honky Tonk Man (2005), Brothers (2008), EPs Shakin' (2021), The BigB (2021) and Rusty (2018), as well as several Masa Orpana singles. Orpana is also known as a member of Jazzmuseo, Anssi Tikanmäki Orchestra, Rakka, Olmarin Unioni and Groovy Eyes.
