The works on the album reflect on the relationship between the current digital age and the tradition of classical music. The use of electronics as part of the instrumentation expands the sound image in many different directions and blurs the boundaries of different genres of experimental music. The compositions form a curve where synthetic sound situations and intimate, subtle tones meet shrill and dense masses of noise. The whole is a picture of the jagged and rugged (sound) world in which we live. However, without forgetting the playful optimism and the strong knowledge of tradition in its architectural foundations.
Saving the best for last, and Helsinki-based electroacoustic group Defunensemble’s album Hyperrealistic Songs on the Finnish label Alba.

Tylyn hauska ryntäys nykymusiikin hyperrealistisiin sointeihin
” Vuonna 2009 perustettu defunensemble on Suomen nykymusiikkioloissa ainutlaatuinen yhdistelmä avantgardea, asennetta ja elektroniikkaa. Livenä yhtye pystyy varmoin ottein yhdistämään akustiset tiheiköt ja elektroniset ryöpyt, joten tietysti sama tapahtuu myös uutuuslevyllä Hyperrealistic Songs. Kenties äänikuva on liiankin hyperrealistinen. ”
