About this release

"I have been able to play the premieres of newly composed works, with which previously unexperienced and unpredictable experiences have become familiar - now something similar happened with these works published almost three hundred years ago.
It has been known for a long time about Telemann's fantasy collection for viola da gamba. The collection was thought to be lost forever until a single surviving copy was found in late 2015 in the private library of Ledenburg Castle in Osnabruck, northern Germany.
Taival with these works has been exciting and different because the works were really new and I had not heard them in concerts or on records. While playing Fantasias, I got associations with some well-known works of the same era, which are hardly damages, but without a doubt intentional compliments of the composer to close colleagues or family friends. All of these give the player of the fantasias a unique connection to the time and place of the works."

★★★★
MARKUS KUIKKA on ensimmäisiä G. P. Telemannilta vasta 2015 uudelleen löydetyn, gamballe sävelletyn fantasiakokoelman levyttäjiä ja esittäjiä. Levylle on mahtunut yhdeksän kokoelman 12 kappaleesta, mikä on seurausta maltillisten tempojen käytöstä. Yksittäisistä osista löytyy kyllä mielevää tanssillisuuttakin, mutta kokonaisuuden päällimmäinen vaikutelma on rauhoittava mietiskelevyys ja harkitseva ote. Joskus toivoisi etenkin nopeisiin ja leikkisiin osiin lisää menevyyttä ja irtonaisuutta.…
