About this release

The Turku orchestra recorded Palmgren's concertos for Finlandia in the 90s, but the interpretations have both disappeared from sales and become obsolete.

Like the previous release, the sound is gorgeous and the 26-member chamber orchestra sounds double its size in the flattering acoustic.

”Heti alkuvuodesta (2016) Mertasen eteen tuli yllättäen toinen suomalaisprojekti, kun hänet kutsuttiin levyttämään lyhyellä varoitusajalla Pori Sinfoniettan kanssa Selim Palmgrenin neljäs ja viides pianokonsertto. Se on osa Alban Palmgren-sarjaa, jonka aiemman osan Henri Sigfridsson oli jo tehnyt.
