About this release

"Ahti Karjalainen - life, Kekkonen ja teot" is the name of the opera that Heinz-Juhani Hofmann composed to Juha Hurmee's libretto for Kokkola's opera for the summer of 2012. Kokkola's opera starred by the Koms sisters is probably the only group that got an attractive performance from Hofmann's anarchistic tonal chaos and Hurmee's nonsense.
Hofmann has used all the possibilities of the libretto. Mostly, the opera progresses as an adhd-modernism with a set but carefully rhythmic tone, but sometimes it stops in oppressive monologues and in a way even arias. The rhythm of the music is so precise and the voice expression of both the singers and the ensemble is so extreme that the imagination is forced to imagine the stage events. Otherwise, I would never want to hear Heinz-Juhani Hofmann's music stiffly fought by chamber musicians in tailcoats. But in Kokkola's opera, it was exactly in the right place."

”Ahti Karjalainen – elämä, Kekkonen ja teot” on nimeltään se ooppera, jonka Heinz-Juhani Hofmann sävelsi Juha Hurmeen librettoon Kokkolan oopperan tilauksesta kesäksi 2012. Komsin siskosten tähdittämä Kokkolan ooppera lienee ainoa joukko, joka sai Hofmannin anarkistisesta sävelkaaoksesta ja Hurmeen hölynpölystä aikaiseksi vetovoimaisen esityksen.
Hofmann on hoksannut libreton kaikki mahdollisuudet. Enimmäkseen ooppera etenee säveltasottomana mutta tarkkaan rytmitettynä adhd-modernismina, mutta…
